    Head women's volleyball coach Jennifer Petrie has released the University of San Diego's 2013 schedule, which is highlighted by a showdown with the defending national champion Texas Longhorns, and seven other matches against NCAA Tournament participants from a year ago.

    San Diego junior third baseman Kris Bryant is the 27th recipient of the Dick Howser Trophy, presented by Easton Foundations, as college baseball's player of the year. The presentation was made Saturday morning as part of a news conference at TD Ameritrade Park with several other 2012 national honors being denoted.

    San Diego's Kris Bryant, who hit the most home runs by any Division I player in a decade, is Baseball America's 2013 College Player of the Year. The No. 2 overall pick in Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft, Bryant smashed 31 homers--10 more than any other D-I player this spring.
