• Kris Bryant Named Dick Howser Award Winner

    San Diego junior third baseman Kris Bryant is the 27th recipient of the Dick Howser Trophy, presented by Easton Foundations, as college baseball's player of the year. The presentation was made Saturday morning as part of a news conference at TD Ameritrade Park with several other 2012 national honors being denoted.

    San Diego's Kris Bryant, who hit the most home runs by any Division I player in a decade, is Baseball America's 2013 College Player of the Year. The No. 2 overall pick in Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft, Bryant smashed 31 homers--10 more than any other D-I player this spring.

    Junior right-handed pitcher Dylan Covey of the University of San Diego baseball team was selected in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Oakland A's Friday afternoon. This marks the second Torero drafted this season, as Kris Bryant was taken No. 2 overall in yesterday's first round by the Chicago Cubs.
