Torero Career Events:
Resume Workshop
Whether you need to update your resume or are looking to produce one, this workshop offers useful information. The Resume Workshop is designed to teach student-athletes the fundamentals of writing a resume. They learn the broad functions of resumes, how to construct resumes, and the role of resumes in the job search process.

Senior Career Hour
This event is a career informational extravaganza! The Senior Career Hour is designed for student-athletes to get things accomplished. We focus on four main areas: in-progress resumes, making sure student-athletes are registered for ToreroLink, helping student-athletes identify their interests and preparing them to meet the employers for the Torero Networking Night.

Mock Interviews
At the beginning of the spring semester, USD students-athletes will get a chance to showcase their interviewing skills during mock interviews. This workshop provides student-athletes with information to improve their ability to answer questions, to present themselves to employers, and to treat interviewing as a relationship-building process with employers.

Want to sign up for a mock interview? Contact Keddy Saunders at ksaunders@sandiego.edu for more information.

Torero Networking Night
The first Torero’s Networking Night took place on February 21, 2006. Twenty-three companies came to USD to participate in preliminary interviews with our outstanding student-athletes. These companies came form various industries and represented businesses nationally and internationally. Our student-athletes were set up with four interviews with the industries of their choice. They had 12 minutes with each employer to showcase their skills and interests.

This event was a wonderful opportunity for our student-athletes to meet employers and alumni and find out about employment opportunities. Our student-athletes gathered information on career options, developed a network of contacts, identified job or internship openings, and gained genuine interview experience. Many of our graduating student athlete’s have received second interviews from the Torero Networking Night.

Student-athlete Testimonials about the Torero Networking Night:

"This experience is good preparation for the future" (Softball Player)

"I was able to learn about different industries" (Men’s Soccer Player)

"This was a great opportunity to learn about internships and job opportunities" (Women’s Basketball Player)

"I liked how I was able to visit with a variety of companies and show my face to many businesses in a short amount of time" (Football)
