The University of San Diego Sports Performance Department strives to ensure that student-athletes reach their full athletic potential by developing all aspects of their physical and mental performance.
Methods:
The USD Sports Performance Staff advocates the use of ground based, multi-joint, explosive free weight exercises in the training of student-athletes. USD athletes are taught the clean and jerk, snatch, squats, deadlift, presses and various other barbell and dumbbell movements. Calisthenics, tumbling, sprinting, agility drills and CrossFit workouts are also used to improve work capacity and athleticism. These methods, in combination with intense effort, allow USD student-athletes to meet every physical challenge put to them in competition.
