HIGH SCHOOL: Earned four varsity letters playing for La Mirada High School... as a senior he hit .400 with five home runs...as a junior hit .390 with 10 doubles and seven home runs...was a member of the Area Code games for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2006...was named first-team All-CIF and first-team All-Suburban League as a senior, junior and sophomore...was named to the Whittier Daily News All-Area team as a senior, junior and sophomore...was also a All-Suburban League selection as a basketball player for La Mirada High School.

PERSONAL: Steve Kaupang was born on Jan. 20, 1989 in La Mirada, Calif....he is the son of Larry and Alicia Kopang...was heavily recruited by Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine, Long Beach State and Gonzaga...chose to attend USD because of the location, academic reputation and the outstanding baseball program.
