SOPHOMORE (2010): Appeared in 34 games with 22 of those being starts... Helped the team win the WCC Championship...Batted .351 (33-for-94) with 25 RBI, six home runs, six doubles and 18 runs scored... Also compiled an on-base percentage of .430 and a .606 slugging percentage... Had a season-high four hits in a 4-for-4 game against Loyola Marymount (4/09/10) when he amassed a season-high three RBI (done on 2 other occasions), three runs scored, a home run and a walk... Strung together six-straight games (4/18/10 - 5/01/10) with an RBI and in five of those six games he recorded multiple RBI...went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI against Hawaii (3/29/10)...went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one home run against Cal State Fullerton (4/27/10). FRESHMAN (2009): Went 1-for-8 (.125) in five games for the Toreros...collected his only hit on 3/10 at Long Beach State, going 1-for-3 with one RBI. HIGH SCHOOL: Played baseball at Punahou School in Hawaii...helped lead his team to three consecutive state championships...as a senior he hit .320 with 15 RBI...as a junior he hit .380 with 17 RBI...as a freshman he hit .314 with 14 RBI...was a two-time first-team All-Honolulu Advertiser. PERSONAL: Zach Mikah Kometani was born on Nov. 26, 1989...he is the son of Michael and Nicki Kometani...was heavily recruited by Hawaii, Kansas, Arizona State, Loyola Marymount and Arizona...chose to attend USD because of the academic programs, and because of the baseball program...notes he loves to go to the beach and body surf. |
