SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Senior shortstop Sean Nicol of the University of San Diego baseball team has been named the West Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning.
Nicol, a 5-11 senior from Scottsdale, Ariz., helped lead the Toreros to a 2-2 record, and helped keep the Toreros in a tie for first place in the WCC. For the week, Nicol went 8-for-18 (.444) with five doubles, two home runs and nine RBI, including going 4-for-5 with three doubles, one home run and five RBI sin Sunday's series clinching win over the University of Portland. Nicol has now run his season-high hit streak to 15 games. On the season, he has moved his batting average up to .369 with 65 hits, 16 doubles, six home runs and 32 RBI.
Nicol and the Toreros will return to action on Tuesday at 3 p.m., as they host UC Riverside in a non-conference game at USD's Cunningham Stadium.
