SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego baseball team had three players named to their summer league All-Star teams. Nate Boman and Justin Snyder were named to Cape Cod's All-Star team while Ricardo Pecina was named to the Central Illinois Collegiate League's All-Star team.
Boman, who was a ninth round selection in the 2006 MLB draft by the Los Angels Angeles of Anaheim, has posted a record of 2-1 with an ERA of 1.54 while playing for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox thus far in the summer league. Boman sat out all of USD's 2006 season with a medical redshirt.
Snyder, a 2006 All-WCC honorable mention, is hitting .248 with two home runs and 10 RBI while playing for the Brewster Whitecaps thus far in the summer league. This past season, Snyder hit .301 with 66 hits, 14 doubles, three home runs and 33 RBI to help lead the Toreros to an NCAA Tournament berth.
Pecina has posted solid numbers thus far through the summer season as he has posted a 4-1 record with an ERA of 1.71 and recorded a team-best 42 strikeouts. Pecina will return to the Toreros in 2007 as a sophomore after registering a 4-4 record with an ERA of 4.42 during his freshman campaign in a Torero uniform.
