Christopher Anderson Nominated for Play of the Year Anderson's coast-to-coast game-winning reverse lay-up is up for the GEICO Play of the Year

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - University of San Diego sophomore point guard Christopher Anderson has been nominated for the GEICO Play of the Year for his remarkable coast-to-coast game-winning reverse layup against LMU on February 4th.
Trailing by one with only seconds remaining, the Toreros needed to go the length of the court. They put the ball in the hands of Anderson who drove hard all the way to the paint. The speedy guard went up for the layup, but was met in mid-air by an LMU defender; Anderson went up-and-under the shot blocker and scooped the ball into the basket to give the Toreros the 69-68 win. Each week for eight weeks, four incredible college basketball plays will be nominated as the GEICO Play of the Year. Each week's winner will be determined by fan voting through the official Facebook page. The eight finalists will compete in a
week-long competition to determine the GEICO Play of the Year. The winner will be announced during the "GEICO Best of College Basketball" special, which airs April 6 on CBS. Week Seven voting opened today (Monday, Feb. 25) and ends Monday, March 4, at 11:59 A.M. ET. To vote for Anderson's play, click here.
Anderson's acrobatic game-winner is competing against three other plays in week seven, including a half-court heave by Wisconsin's Ben Brust, a game-tying 65-foot bomb by Marist's Chavaughn Lewis and buzzer-beating layup by Illinois' Tyler Griffey.
The Toreros have two games remaining before they head to Las Vegas for the WCC Tournament. They will host USF Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and close out the regular season Saturday at home against Pepperdine at 12:00 p.m.
