University of San Diego freshman point-guard Brandon Johnson (Houston, TX) was named to the CollegeInsider.com Freshman All-America Team. Johnson, who turned in a stellar performance at the recently completed West Coast Conference Tournament, was joined by Diamon Simpson of Saint Mary's on the twenty-five man team. At the WCC Tournament, Johnson totaled 24 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals in the team's 85-72 first-round win over the Pepperdine Waves. In the team's 96-92 overtime loss to eventual champion Gonzaga in the semi-finals, Johnson chipped in with 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. For the season Johnson, who was also named to the five-man WCC All-Freshman team along with teammate Gyno Pomare, averaged 9.3 points per game and a team-best 4.07 assists.
