Men's Crew Has Strong Showing at San Diego Cew Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego men's rowing team has a strong showing in the first day of the San Diego Crew Classic with two boats qualifying for the finals on Sunday.

The Toreros had three boats competing in the first day of racing ,two varsity eight and one junior varsity eight boats, with one V8 and the JV8 boats both turning in solid times to qualify for the championship rounds.

In the Men's Cal Cup B heat, the Toreros turned in a time of 6:11.77, which was faster then the times of boats from the University of Texas, Sonoma State and cross-town rival San Diego State.

In the Men's Collegiate Novice B Derek Guelker Memorial Cup, the Torero JV boat posted a time of 6:50.97, which qualified them for Sunday's race.

The Toreros will conclude action in the San Diego Crew Classic on Sunday at Mission Bay.
