Torero assistant Bobby Jay promoted to linebackers coach
Bobby Jay enters his third season with the Torero football program and has been promoted to assistant coach for linebackers. This past season he was a defensive assistant, and for the past two years was the program's administrative assistant and in charge of a lot of day-to-day operations.
Prior to USD he spent 3 years as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Redlands where he coached safeties. The 2009 squad finished 7-2 and ranked 5th in total defense for NCAA Division III. In 2008 the Bulldogs went 7-2 and ranked 2nd in total defense.
Jay played four years (2002-2005) on the Redlands' football team where he competed on defense at safety. He participated on two teams that won Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) titles in 2002 and 2003. He graduated in May, 2006 with a degree in History and minor in Physical Education. During the 2006 and 2007 seasons he coached at Captial High School in Boise, Idaho.
Originally from Boise, Idaho, Jay played wide receiver and safety at Boise High School. He went on to earn his M.A. in Higher Education from the University of Redlands in December, 2009.
