Senior linebacker Ronnie Pentz (Lake Forest, CA) signed a free agent NFL contract with the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday. Pentz joins Eric Bakhtiari (San Diego Chargers) and Wes Doyle (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) as Toreros that have signed on with NFL clubs as free agents. Senior QB Josh Johnson was selected in the 5th round by Tampa Bay this past Sunday. This past season Pentz ranked second on the team in tackles with 80 (45 solo). He also talllied 4.5 tackles for loss, 1 QB sack, 4 QB hurries, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery. A First Team Mid-Major All-American (The Sports Network), Pentz was also a unanimous All-Pioneer Football League pick. USD was 9-2 overall and were co-PFL Champions. Besides his natural linebacker position, Pentz will compete as a long snapper.
