, head to the midwest this weekend to take on the Dayton Flyers (2-1 PFL, 4-2). Game time is 3:00 p.m. (PDT) in Dayton, Ohio at Welcome Stadium (11,000 seats).

set a school record with 246 receiving yards... Mills finished the day 31-41 for 511 yards and 4 TDs; Hoekstra had 11 receptions for 246 yards and 1 score... The Torero defense hounded Dayton quarterback Will Bardo all evening, holding him to 70 yards on 8-of-26 passing... Two seasons ago (Nov. 5, 2011) USD escaped with a 31-28 road win over the UD Flyers.

LAST & OLIARO EARN PFL RECOGNITION: Senior DE Blake Oliaro and sophomore kicker David Last were named PFL Players of the Week for their performances in the Toreros' thrilling 35-33 come from behind victory over Marist. Last was named Special Teams Player of the Week for hitting the game-winning 28-yard field goal to seal the Toreros' victory. The game-winner came on Last's second opportunity - his 33-yard kick as time expired missed but the Red Foxes were penalized for running into Last, giving him a second chance with zeros on the clock. Last also had a 32-yard first-quarter field goal and went 3-for-4 on PAT's. He also handled kickoff duties, booting six kickoffs, an average of 64.2 yards, including a trio of touchbacks. Oliaro was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week, for his stat-stuffing performance. Oliaro provided San Diego's first points of the day when he sacked Marist quarterback Chuckie Looney in his own endzone for a safety. He finished the game with a team-best 10 tackles, nine of those solo stops. He also had two tackles for loss that were both quarterback sacks, including the first-quarter safety that went as a seven-yard loss in the book. Oliaro shares the honor with Drake's Taylor Coleman, who had eight tackles (three for loss) and a sack to help the Bulldogs to a 27-6 victory over Davidson.

Among PFL teams, USD ranks first in total offense (491.7), pass efficiency (167.6), third down conversions (34-75, 45.3%) and field goals (8-8, 1.000)... Among PFL players for all games, Mason Mills ranks first in total offense (297.8), passing yards per game (313.8) and pass efficiency (169.1 rating); Ryan Belden ranks 1st in punting (44.0 average); Blake Oliaro ranks 1st in tackles for loss (1.50 per game); Reggie Bell ranks 2nd in receptions per game (5.8 catches; 35 receptions) and receiving yards per game (107.0; 642 yards); David Last ranks 2nd in scoring (8.2 ppg; 49 points) and field goals made per game (1.33; 8-for-8)... MILLS CLOSING IN ON ANOTHER PASSING RECORD: Senior QB Mason Mills, who was recognized by the San Diego Hall of Champions as a star of the month for September, is closing in on another all-time USD passing record... Already the program's all-time leader in completions (764) and attempts (1,144), Mills needs just 181 more yards of passing to knock off Josh Johnson's school record of 9,699... Mills, currently with 9,519 yards, passed by Johnson's previous marks for completions (724) and attempts (1,065) in earlier contests this season... With 74 career touchdown passes, Mills needs just two more touchdown passes to move into the #2 spot ahead of Eric Rasmussen (75; 2000-2003)... Josh Johnson, currently in his 6th year in the NFL and first year with Cincinnati, owns the school mark with 113 touchdown passes.
JAMES CRACKS 2,000 YARDS IN RUSHING: Senior running back Kenn James (San Diego, Calif.) continues to be the team's top rusher with 451 yards on just 62 carries (7.3 yards per carry average)... With his 32-yard effort against Marist last Saturday, James cracked the 2,000 yard barrier... He now owns 2,029 career rushing yards which ranks 7th all-time at USD... Holding down the 6th spot is Joe Henry (2,085 yards from 1978-81)... The all-time mark for rushing yards is held by current USD football radio analyst JT Rogan (3,559 yards from 2005-09).
BELDEN TOP PUNTER IN PFL: Freshman punter Ryan Belden (Diamond Bar, Calif.) ranks #1 among PFL punters, and is 9th overall in the FCS with his 44.0yards per punt average... He owns five punts of 50+ yards, and has 7 punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line... Two Saturdays agao against Mercer he boomed an 80-yarder and finished the game with 4 punts for 207 yards (51.8 average)... His 80 yard punt ranks second all-time in Torero history and is the longest in over 55 years... The Torero record was set by Vern Valdez n 1957 vs. Mexico Polytechnic.
LAST SETS NEW FIELD GOAL RECORD: Redshirt sophomore kicker David Last has made all eight of his field goal attempts this season... The eight straight makes is a new Torero streak breaking the previous mark of 7 (Ernie Collins, 2012; Tim Roth, 1997)... Last, who kicked the game-winner against Marist with no time on the clock from 28-yards, got some help from the Marist defense to set the record... His first attempt from 33 yards with 5 seconds to go missed wide, but the Red Foxes were called for a roughing the kicker penalty... Last leads the Toreros in scoring with 49 points.
SCOUTING THE DAYTON FLYERS: The Dayton Flyers (2-1 PFL, 4-2) have won their last two games, including last weekend's 49-20 road win over PFL newcomer Stetson... Dayton is 2-1 in home games with their lone loss at Welcome Stadium coming against the Marist Red Foxes back on September 28th (31-20)... In their win at Stetson last Saturday the Flyers jumped out to a 35-0 lead before cruising to the 49-20 win... QB Will Bardo completed 7-of-13 passes for 164 yards and 1TD, and added 41 yards rushing with a TD... RB Connor Kacsor led the Flyer ground attack with 128 yards and 3 TDs on 22 carries... In their home win two weeks ago over Davidson (40-8), Kacsor gained 244 yards on 26 carries with 2 TDs in earning the PFL Offensive Player of the Week award... Season leaders include Kacsor (548 yards, 6 TDs), Bardo (84-for-163 for 957 yards & 6 TDs; 290 yards rushing and 4 TDs), slot receiver Gabe Macis (18 receptions for 169 yards), slot receiver Ross Smith (17 receptions for 217 yards), Flyer Ryan Schwenke (3 interceptions), LB Colin Monnier (56 tackles, 2 sacks) and CB Howard Savage (37 stops, 2 forced fumbles)... Head Coach Rick Chamberlin (Dayton, '80) is in his 6th year as head coach and owns a 44-18 record...
