SAN DIEGO, Calif. - University of San Diego junior quarterback Mason Mills has been named the USD/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week.
Mills, a Coronado native, set a USD and PFL record with 511 passing yards in the Toreros 41-9 win over Dayton. Mills completed 31-41 of his passes, which included four touchdowns, to finish the day with a 202.7 pass efficiency rating.
Mills 511 passing yards marked the first time a PFL quarterback has thrown for over 500 yards, breaking the previous record set by Butler's DeWayne Ewing, who threw for 497 yards against San Diego on Oct. 21, 2000.
Mills record performance earned him PFL Offensive Player of the Week Honors, his second time winning the award this season.
Mills and the rest of the Torero football team (5-3, 4-1) look to continue their current three game win streak Saturday at Marist College (3-5, 2-3). Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
