SAN DIEGO, Calif. -The Pioneer Football League game scheduled between the University of San Diego and Marist College for Nov. 3, 2012 has been cancelled, due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy throughout the East Coast. Both schools are working in conjunction with the PFL office to see if the game can be rescheduled for Dec. 1, and a determination will be announced as soon as possible.
"Due to the devastating impact of Hurricane Sandy throughout the East Coast and the resulting cancellation of flights, the University of San Diego football team is unable to travel to Marist College this weekend," stated PFL Commissioner Patty Viverito. "Consequently, the Pioneer Football League game between USD and Marist scheduled on Saturday, November 3rd has been cancelled. Both schools are working diligently to try to reschedule the game for Saturday, December 1st. A decision will be made on this matter as expeditiously as possible."
"We are working with Marist College and the PFL office to determine if our game can be played on December 1st," stated USD Executive Director of Athletics Ky Snyder. "A decision will be made on this as soon as possible. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those on the East Coast as they deal with the loss of lives and destruction left behind by Hurricane Sandy."
San Diego will now return to action on Nov. 10 with a 6:00 p.m. PFL home contest against Morehead State at Walter J. Zable Field at Torero Stadium. It will be Senior Night for 17 USD senior players, as this is USD's final home game of the 2012 season.
