Junior '09-'10: Went 14-2 in dual singles exclusively at the No. 1 position... Competed alongside Nils Schive at the No. 1 position for doubles, capturing a record of 6-8... Was forced to miss four matches due to injury from March 13-28... Helped the Toreros to a third place finish at the WCC Championships by capturing singles victories over Brian Borgan (6-3, 6-3) of Santa Clara and Thai Tu (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) of University of San Francisco... Also earned a tandem win alongside Schive against Filip Zivkovic and Evan Schleining (8-6) of Portland... Selected for the third consecutive season to the All-WCC First Team for singles... Earned a preseason ranking of No. 17 in the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Singles poll... During the fall competed in the ITA All-American Championships, the ITA Regionals, the So Cal Intercollegiate Championships, and the National Collegiate Tennis Classic.
Sophomore '08-'09: Went 17-4 (16-4 @ #1 spot) in dual match competition and finished the season ranked 34th in the Campbell/ITA Singles Poll... Was selected to compete in the 2009 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships held at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas... Upset ITA All-American and 25th ranked Justin Kronauge (Dayton, OH) of 3rd-ranked Ohio State in first round singles action (6-4, 4-6, 6-4)... Advanced to Round of 16 by defeating No. 7 seed Michael Venus of LSU in second round action (7-6 (9-7), 6-3) and subsequently assuring 2009 ITA-All American honors by doing so... Owned a 19-7 singles record for the combined spring and fall seasons... Went 3-0 at the WCC Championships, including a win over 44th ranked and WCC Player of the Year Omar Altman of Pepperdine in straight sets (6-2, 7-5)... Named First Team All-WCC in both singles and doubles (w/ current junior teammate Nils Schive) and earned WCC Player of the Month honors twice for singles (March & April).
Freshman '07-'08: Dominated the competition, posting a 17-4 overall singles record while competing primarily at the No. 2 position... Also turned in an equally impressive performance in doubles while partnering exclusively with teammate Nils Schive and finishing the season with a 15-7 (10-5 at No. 2) record... Helped the Toreros to a third place finish at the 2008 WCC Championships by winning singles matches against Gonzaga's Roman Dojcak (6-4, 6-0), St. Mary's Lucas Tirelli (6-2, 6-2), and USF's Rainer Nachbauer (6-2, 6-3)... Earned a national ranking at No. 57 his freshman season... Named to the All-Conference First Team and was selected as the WCC Freshman of the Year... Was selected to the 2008 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships... During the fall 2007 season he turned in an outstanding campaign by going 11-2 and earning a preseason ranking of No. 63 (No. 12 in west region)... Reached the quarterfinals of the ITA West Regionals, and won the Flight One Singles at Fresno State's Bulldog Classic.
High School: Attended Archigymnasium Soest where his team won the state championship all four years (2003-2006)... Individually he was the state champion for U21, U18, and U16, as well as being ITF-junior 260... His club team, TK RW Dortmuud, won the state team championship three times out of the last four years.
Personal: Born on September 14, 1987 in Soest, Germany... Parents are Edward & Aisela Jackson of Soest, Germany... Recruited by 43 schools... Chose USD for school, location, and coaching staff... Lived in Barcelona, Spain for one year, and trained one year in Munich in the German tennis federation (2006-07)... Also enjoys playing soccer and table tennis.
