HIGH SCHOOL: Played three years of varsity basketball at Highlands Ranch High School...as a senior, she was tabbed the Denver Post State 5A Player of the Year after averaging 20.6 ppg, 8.5 rpg and shooting 84 percent from the free throw line...she helped lead her team to the Class 5A State Championship and she she was named the player of the game after posting a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds in the championship game against Regis Jesuit...as a junior, she helped lead her team to the Elite Eight of the State tournament after averaging 14.8 ppg, 8.3 rpg and 2.5 apg...for her efforts on the court, she was named first-team All-Continental League, All-State, Max Preps first-team All-Colorado, and participated in "The Show" High School All-Star Game as a junior...during her sophomore season, she helped her team reach the final four of the state tournament after averaging 7.4 ppg and 6.6 rpg en route to a All-Continental League honorable mention distinction.
PERSONAL: Katelyn Ashlea McDaniel was born on April 14, 1993 in Colorado Springs, Colo....she is the daughter of Jonell McDaniel... chose to attend USD because of the great academic opportunities and because of the excellent women's basketball program...her mother, Jonell, played basketball at Northern Colorado.
