SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Junior guard Amy Kame of the University of San Diego women's basketball team has been named the West coast Conference Player of the Month, the conference office announced Thursday afternoon.
Kame, a 6-0 junior from Grand Junction, Colo., helped guide the Toreros to a 5-1 record to begin the season. Kame has been USD's leading scorer in three of the six games, and paced the Torero offense with an average of 16.8 ppg, while also leading the team in rebounding at 7.0 rpg. Kame also paced the team in assists (30) and steals (27) during November. For the month, she scored in double figures in four of the six games, including scoring 20 or more points in two games. She scored a career-high of 28 points in a win over Northern Colorado, and she scored 20 points in the season-opening win over Cal State San Marcos. She has also posted a pair of double-doubles in November, one against Cal State San Marcos (20 its, 11 feb) and the other against Air Force (17 pts and 10 feb).
Kame and the Toreros will return to action on Saturday as they take on cross-town rival San Diego State University in a 3:30 p.m. televised game on Fox Sports San Diego.
