Ada Greenwood

Since taking over the San Diego women's soccer program in 2003, Ada Greenwood has upheld the rich soccer tradition that San Diego is known for and continues to build a successful and nationally recognized program. Just the third coach in USD's storied 18 year history, Greenwood has compiled an overall record of 82-62-16 in his eight seasons at the helm. As San Diego's top assistant from 1998-2002, Greenwood helped USD to a 66-30-5 record and four NCAA College Cup appearances. Since taking over the reigns as head coach, Greenwood has guided the Toreros to six NCAA Tournament appearances including four straight from 2007-10.

Greenwood has guided the Toreros to back-to-back 15 win seasons in 2007 and 2008. In 2008, USD finished with a program-best 6-1-0 record in WCC play, good for second place. The Toreros then advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In 2007, Greenwood guided the Toreros to a program-best 15-3-3 overall record, a program-best No. 9 national ranking and set a new program record with an 11 match unbeaten streak.

In his second year as a head coach in 2004, he guided USD to a 12-8-2 overall record, a 5-1-1 mark in the difficult West Coast Conference, and a second round appearance in the NCAA College Cup, maintaining USD's streak of six consecutive postseason appearances. For his efforts, Greenwood was honored as both the 2004 West Coast Conference Coach of the Year and the 2004 San Diego Union Tribune Coach of the Year.

Greenwood graduated from Dominican College in 1997 after completing a stellar three-year career at the NAIA power. Greenwood was an NAIA All-American midfielder and the leading goal-scorer in the Independent Conference, ending his career with 39 goals and 41 assists.

He began his head coaching experience with the San Diego Surf, guiding the U-18, U-17, and U-12 club soccer programs to regional, state, and national recognition. He led the Surf U-17 team to the 2000 National Championship. Greenwood's club experience also includes directing the Marin Red Rockers in Northern California. As an assistant at The Branson School from 1993-97, Greenwood helped create a successful prep program that saw the Bulls go undefeated for three consecutive seasons from 1995-97. The Branson School was also the No. 1 team in the country in both 1996 and 1997 according to the UMBRO/NSCAA Girls High School Poll. In addition, Greenwood was instrumental in Branson's five straight NorCal Titles from 1993-97.

A native of England, Greenwood grew up in Southend in Essex County on the outskirts of London. He played soccer and tennis at Eastwood High School.
