SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Pacific Coast Softball Conference recently announced their 2009 All-Conference selections with three Toreros being honored. Senior Lindsay Fleet, junior Jennifer Ellenbeck, sophomore Kristen Gensler, and freshman Cathy Wineinger received accolades for their performance this season.
Lindsay Fleet was named to the second team All-PCSC list at first base. Fleet finished at USD in four different career categories (5th for batting average hitting .349, 4th for doubles with 27, tied for 5th with seven homeruns, 5th with .500 slugging percentage). She lead the team with .372 batting average with 55 hits in 49 starts.
Jennifer Ellenbeck earned second team All-PCSC honors as a pitcher. Ellenbeck is in six different career categories (Including the career strikeout leader with 324 and fourth in career shutouts tied for fourth with seven) as well as a new single season category taking over second place with 144 strikeouts in 2009. Ellenbeck recorded 11 wins on the season finishing 7-3 in Conference, striking out 144 batters in 175.1 innings for a 2.71 ERA.
Kristen Gensler was the final Torero named to the second team All-PCSC list as an outfielder. Gendler tallied 48 games played with 45 starts. She held a nine game hitting streak and 13 multi-hit games, nine of which were in conference. Lead the team with a .328 conference batting average against PCSC opponents. Tallied 48 hits, 30 runs scored, three doubles, one triple, 10 RBI, seven walks, and eight stolen bases.
Wrapping up the Conference awards was Cathy Wineinger who earned honorable mention All-PCSC at shortstop. Started all 54 games at either second base or shortstop for USD. Recorded 27hits, nine RBI, five runs, two homeruns, three doubles, seven sacrifices, and one stolen base. She had four multi-hit games and had a .255 batting average in conference.

The Toreros recently celebrated their team banquet with family members and the coaching staff to finish up the season. The team awards were handed out honoring the MVP, Best Offensive, Best Defensive, and Rookie of the Year, all of which are voted on by the players.
Jennifer Ellenbeck was named the 2009 Most Valuable Player. Along with her stellar performance from the circle, Ellenbeck had 21 hits on the season and tallied 13 runs, four doubles, four RBI, with a .308 on base percentage, finishing with a .279 conference batting average.
Lindsay Fleet earned the Best Offensive award for her stats which included 55 hits, 26 RBI, a .473 slugging percentage and a .434 on base percentage to go with her nine doubles, two homeruns, 15 runs scored. Fleet also had an 11 game hit streak and 16 multi-hit games through out the season.
Best Defensive award went to Celeste Soto. A freshman who started in all 54 games, Soto had 39 put outs on the season and 89 assists allowing only five errors. In all, she had a .962 fielding percentage.
The Coaches Award, given to the athlete with the best attitude, effort, and heart was given to junior Taylor Lawrence.
Finally, a new addition to the awards handed out was the Community Service Award given to the athlete for the most hours given back to the community. Jennifer Ellenbeck was the first to receive this award for her community service at a downtown shelter feeding the hungry, attendance at Light Up The Night, participation in a local elementary school reading program, and participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Walk for the Cure to name just a few.
The Toreros close the 2009 season with their best finish in program history taking third place in the PCSC with an 11-9 mark, and will spend the off season training and preparing for the non-traditional season in the fall.
