Toreros fall to Furman, 5-2

Feb. 27, 2008

(San Diego, CA) - The USD women's tennis team took on the Lady Paladins of Furman on Wednesday afternoon, finishing with a score of 5-2 in favor of the Paladins. Despite the efforts of the No. 2 doubles duo, Helene Lindstrand and Alexandra Demidova to earn an 8-5 win over Lauren Osborne and Monica Arguello, Furman was able to secure the doubles point after winning two of the three matches. In singles play, USD received match wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots by Alexandra Demidova and Ellie Faulkner. But Furman proved to be too much for the Toreros, as Jessica Preeg beat out Carla Tamborini 2-6, 7-5, 10-7 at the No. 4 singles spot in a three set tiebreaker match, along with three additional single wins at the No.1, No. 2, and No. 3 spots.
