The 54th ranked University of San Diego Women's Tennis team will host the No. 42 Aztecs of San Diego State University Tuesday, April 14th at the friendly confines of the USD West Tennis Courts.
#54 USD Falls to 35th Ranked Washington:
Last time out, USD suffered a 6-1 loss to Washington on Saturday, April 11. With the loss, the Toreros fell to 10-8 on the season. Senior Tammy Kevey, ranked #121 in the recent ITA poll issued April 7th, earned the lone Torero point, downing Washington's Lina Xu in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. In addition, Kevey also won her doubles match, playing along side freshman teammate, Maja Sujica.
Scouting the Aztecs:
Before USD hosted the Huskies this past weekend, San Diego State competed against 35th-ranked Washington on April 10 at the Aztec Tennis Center. San Diego State fell, 7-0, to Washington. SDSU is currently ranked 42nd in the nation, according to FILA Collegiate Tennis Rankings released April 7 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The doubles team of SDSU senior Holly Bagshaw and sophomore Julia Trunk are currently ranked No. 58.
Series History vs. Cross-Town Rivals:
USD has not faired well against its arch-rival, sporting a 12-25 record when facing the Aztecs.
WCC Tournament to Be Played at Barnes:
The 2008-2009 WCC Men's and Women's Tennis Tournament will be played at the Barnes Tennis Center April 17th-19th. Brackets will be announced later this week.
