(Moraga, CA) - The No. 4 seed USD women's tennis team defeated San Francisco today, 4-3, to finish in 3rd place at the 2008 West Coast Conference Championships. The Toreros and San Francisco split their singles matches 3-3, and USD won the all-important doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Helene Lindstrand and Alexandra Demidova beat Mylene Martin and Jessy Mekpoh 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, and Tammy Kevey and Justine Perl beat Jenny Sperry and Emma Taylor 8-2 at No. 3 doubles. USD singles winners included Helene Lindstand at No. 2, Alexandra Demidova at No. 4 and Ellie Faulkner at No. 6. Faulkner won the deciding singles match with her 7-5, 6-4 win over Sarah Oudomvilay at the No. 6 spot. USD improves to 7-14.
