SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's tennis team competed in the second day of the SDSU Fall Classic I on Saturday at the Aztec Tennis Center. The Toreros won all nine of their matches on the day- six singles wins and three doubles victories.
Stephanie Hoffpauir advanced to the final of the singles red bracket with her 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 6-2 win over San Diego State's Julia Wais. Cara Brown also moved into the final in her bracket after topping Dane Joubert of North Texas 4-6, 7-5, 6-1. Brown and Hoffpauir went on to post a doubles win over Guillermo/Panu of Pepperdine by a score of 8-1.
Laura Claus moved onto the consolation final of the red bracket with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over SDSU's Laura Antonana. Claus teamed with Marta Stojanovic for an 8-4 doubles win over Pistalu/Warren of Cal State Northridge. In singles, Stojanovic defeated Sabrina Man-Son-Hing, 6-3, 6-3, to advance to the consolation final of the black bracket.
Anna Depenau and Idil Haciraifoglu will face each other in the final of the singles grey bracket after they each posted wins on Saturday. Depenau defeated SDSU's Kristin Buth 2-6, 6-2, 7-5, while Haciraifoglu topped New Mexico State's Denis Van Der Ben 6-3, 6-4. Depenau and Haciraifoglu also paired up to post a 9-8(4) doubles win over Williams/Van Der Ben of NMSU.
The SDSU Fall Classic I wraps up with the final day of competition on Sunday at the Aztec Tennis Center.
