SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's tennis team wrapped up day two of competition at the USTA/ITA Southwest Regional Championships at Barnes Tennis Center on Friday afternoon. Two USD doubles pairs advanced to the round of 16.
In doubles play, Anna Depenau and Alexandra Victorsson posted an 8-1 win over UC Santa Barbara's Erica Cano and Stacy Yam to advance to the round of 16. Laura Claus and Marta Stojanovic also moved into the round of 16 with an 8-4 win over Cal State Northridge's Sabrina Man-Son-Hing and Anna Yang.
Stephanie Hoffpauir and Cara Brown fell in the round of 32 as well, dropping their contest to Ebba Unden and Karolina Rozenberg of Long Beach State, 9-8.
In singles action, Depenau defeated Arizona's Hailey Johnson 6-1, 6-1 in the round of 32 before falling to Kim Stubbe, also of Arizona, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2, in the round of 16.
Claus was unable to get out of the round of 32 as she fell to UCLA's Kaitlin Ray 6-3, 6-2. Hoffpauir also lost in the round of 32 with a 6-0, 6-4 defeat at the hands of Chanelle Van Nguyen of UCLA.
Victorsson was defeated by Morgan McIntosh of Cal State Fullerton 6-2, 6-2 in the consolation draw.
Day three will include round of 16 doubles action and singles consolation matches for Stephanie Hoffpauir, Marta Stojanovic and Anna Depenau.
