Women's Tennis Wraps Up Day One of SDSU Fall Classic II

Updated Fall Classic II Singles and Doubles Brackets Get Acrobat Reader

(San Diego, CA) The University of San Diego's womens tennis team kicked off tournament play Friday morning at the Fall Classic II, hosted by San Diego State University, at the Aztec Tennis Center. Sophomore Milou Teeling after receiving a first round bye in Flight C singles, defeated Alli Wahba of Colorado University in straight sets, 6-3, 6-7.

In Flight A singles, Sujica was defeated by Melisa Esposito of Colorado University, 7-6, 6-0, and went on to challenge and secure a win (6-3, 6-2) against UCI's Clare Fermin in back-draw play. Also, Maria Raygada lost to Denise Dy of the University of Washington, 6-3, 6-4, and moved on to the consolation bracket to play Kristina Radan of Oklahoma and earn a win in two sets, 6-3, 6-1.

In Flight B singles, junior Justine Perl fell to Washington's Aleksandra Malovic, 6-2, 6-3, but downed Colorado's Michala Jensen, 6-3, 6-3, in consolation play. Sophomore Alexandra Demidova was defeated by Peta Maree Lancaster of Oklahoma, 6-3, 6-3. Demidova then fell to Roxanne Ellison of SDSU in two sets, 6-3, 6-1, in the back-draw.

In Flight B doubles, the tandem of freshman Maja Sujica and senior Tammy Kevey were able to advance to winners bracket play by defeating UCI's pair of Brooke Bartlett and Hannah Holladay, 8-2. The team will take on Colorado's Michala Jensen and Abbie Probert today at 9 a.m.

Day two of the SDSU Fall Classic II continues Saturday at 9 a.m. with doubles.
