LA JOLLA, Calif. - The University of San Diego track team competed at the UCSD Triton Invitational on Saturday. The Toreros had outstanding individual results against tough competition.
"A few of our runners didn't have their day, but as a team you looked strong overall," commented head coach Will Guarino. "This weekend was a great way to honor the seniors in their last race as USD runners on a San Diego County track. Congratulations to those that set personal best or those that came close."
San Diego competed well the 3000 meter run with two top 20 marks. Liz Ramos finished in 15th place with 11:12.10 followed by Tracy Vargo who recorded an 11:20.22 time for 18th place. Dana Dancey came across in 22nd place with a time of 12:51.64.
San Diego moved on to the 800 meter run. Senior Stephanie Sollars finished in 2:28.01 for a team high 31st place. Kirsten Allan placed 33rd overall with a time of 2:29.27. Nicole Buck finished 38th overall with a time of 2:36.01. Alex Clancy recorded a mark of 2:37.61 for 40th place followed by teammate Sally Kallat taking 41st place in 2:38.79. Katie Case finished 43rd with 2:39.63 while Christine Nolan rounded out the team with a 2:39.92.
The Toreros entered two athletes in the 100 meter dash event. Whitney Henry finished with a 13.43 mark while teammate Heather Hippensteel finished in 13.74. Henry took 20th overall and Hippensteel placed 26th.
Henry and hippensteel both were entered in the 200 meter dash as well. Henry cam across in 27.99 placing 36th overall. Hippensteel clocked in at 28.71 for 38th place.

In the 400 meter dash, Nicole Buck lead the way with a team high 23rd place in a time of 1:02.26 followed by Kirsten Allan in 24th place with a 1:02.51 mark. Stephanie Sollars took 26th place with a time of 1:04.93. Nicole Riley finished in 1:09.56 for 29th place and Ana Tosey rounded out the team with 31st in a time of 1:15.83.
The Toreros finish up the season at the Occidental College Track Meet on Saturday, May 9 at 3:00 p.m. in Eagle Rock, California.
