SOPHOMORE (2011): Played and started in all 33 matches this season as a middle hitter...named first-team All-WCC...led the team in blocks with 104...recorded 275 kills, while hitting at a .369 clip... helped lead the team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament...recorded a career-high 16 kills in a win against Santa Clara (9/24/10)...recorded15 kills against Saint Mary's (10/26/11)...racked up a career-high 10 blocks and had 16 kills for a double-double against Santa Clara (9/24/11)...recorded 14 kills in a win against Cal Poly (9/27/11)...recorded 13 kills against BYU (10/1/11), San Francisco (10/29/11) and Gonzaga (11/3/11)... helped lead the team to the best overall record in program history at 28-5.
FRESHMAN (2010): Appeared in21 matches for the Toreros at middle hitter...recorded 83 kills, 14 digs, and 51 blocks... helped lead the team to the 2010 WCC Championship...ranked 10th in the West Coast Conference with 0.87 blocks per set...was third on the team in total blocks and fifth in kills...posted a season-high six blocks against UC Santa Barbara (9/18/10)...had a season-high nine kills against Pepperdine (11/18/10).
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Played volleyball at Christian Brothers High School...she was a three-time All-SCV selection...she helped her team place second in the state in her junior and senior seasons...as a senior she was an Optimist All-Star Team participant...was named to the All-State Tournament team as a junior and senior...also lettered in basketball...played club volleyball for the JBS team, and helped the team received a No. 7 national ranking by ESPN.hoopgurlz.
PERSONAL: Katherine Anne Hoekman was born on July 27, 1992...she is the daughter of Thomas and Annie Hoekman...was also recruited by Cal State Fullerton, Boise State, Virginia Tech, and Sacramento State...chose to attend USD because of the volleyball program...also notes that she earned the Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete Award as well as the Christian Brothers' LaSalle Student-Athlete of the Year Award.
