Toreros Add Chris Jackson to Coaching Staff

Chris Jackson joins Jennifer Petrie and Brent Hilliard on the USD Volleyball coaching staff.

Chris Jackson is entering his first season as an assistant coach for head coach Jennifer Petrie. He will assist coach Petrie will all aspects of the game.

Jackson joins the Toreros coaching staff after serving as the technical coordinator for the US Men's Volleyball team for the past three seasons. He will continue on with the US Men's national team through the summer Olympic games this summer, then joins USD fulltime in August.

In his first season with the US Men's team, they finished with a 16-6 record, including a victory at the World Championship Qualifier, a second-place finish at the NORCECA Continental Championship and a sixth-place finish in the FIVB World League.

In 2010, the U.S. Men finished with a 14-7 record, including a sixth place finish at the FIVB World Championship and an eight place in the FIVB World League. Jackson was the Volunteer Assistant coach in the spring of 2011 at UCLA under Head Coach Mike Sealy. He also served as an assistant coach at Grand Canyon University in 2009, and prior to that, Jackson served as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs at USC, including being a part of the women's 2007 NCAA national tournament semifinalist team. He also served as an assistant coach for the 2008 U.S. Boys' Youth National Team that won the NORCECA Continental Championship.

Jackson was on the coaching staff at Phoenix Brophy Prep college from 2004-2006, which included a state title in 2006. He coached both Boy's and Girl's club teams in Arizona and California. Most notably being a part of SCVC's 16's team that finished 4th at Boy's Junior Olympics.

Jackson was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Don and Sandy Jackson. He was prepped at Deer Valley High School in Glendale where he played volleyball and earned All-Arizona Team honors. He went onto BYU from 2003-2004 then left to serve an LDS Mission in Lima, Peru. He earned his degree from Arizona State in 2007.
