SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's volleyball team has moved up one spot to No. 12 in the latest AVCA top-25 poll. This marks the sixth consecutive week that the Toreros have appeared in the top-25.
San Diego posted a perfect 2-0 record this past week, as they rallied back from a 2-0 deficit to claim a 3-2 win over Loyola Marymount on Thursday. USD then picked up a clean sweep over Pepperdine on Saturday to improve to 11-3 overall and 3-2 in the WCC.
In Thursday's win, Chloe Ferrari recorded a match-best 19 kills on 34 swings, while only committing three errors to hit for a .471 clip. Both Alaysia Brown and Sandra Lozic recorded 13 kills a piece, with Lozic also recording 12 digs to post a double-double. The final Torero in double-digit kills was Taylor Hollins, who had 12 kills. Jianna Bonomi recorded 41 assists in helping steer the Torero offense to a .210 team attack percentage, while C'era Oliveira recorded 15 digs to lead the defense.
Then in Saturday's win, Brown paced the Torero offense with a match-best 17 kills, while hitting for a .433 clip. Hollins was the second Torero in double-digit kills, as she had 13 to go along with 10 digs to post a double-double. Bonomi recorded 31 assists and had 10 digs to record a double-double, while Oliveira led the defensive side of things with 22 digs. As a team, USD hit .304.
San Diego will return to action on Thursday, as they resume WCC play when they welcome the University of San Francisco to town for a 7 p.m. match inside the friendly confines of the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
