SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's volleyball team held steady at No. 13 in the latest AVCA top-25 poll after posting another perfect 2-0 record this past week to rte main undefeated in WCC play at 8-0.
USD picked up a 3-1 win over Gonzaga on Thursday, followed by a 3-0 sweep over Loyola Marymount. In Thursday's win over the Zags, the Toreros were led by sophomore outside hitter Sandra Lozic who had 15 kills and hit for a .379 clip. Chloe Ferrari and Katie Hoekman both recorded double digit kills as well, as Ferrari had 12, and Hoekman had 11, and Alaysia Brown recorded eight kills on an impressive .400 clip tonight. Rachel Alvey recorded another double-double with 38 assists and 13 digs, while Kandiss Anderson led the defense with 23 digs.
In Saturday's sweep over LMU, Sandra Lozic led the Toreros offense, as they sophomore outside hitter recorded 10 kills on 16 swings, while only committing one error to hit for a .562 clip, and she chipped in with three digs. Carrie Baird had 11 kills and just missed having a double-double with nine total digs. Rachel Alvey recorded 38 assists and had three blocks, while helping steer the Torero offense to a .349 team attack percentage, and both Kandiss Anderson and C'era Oliveira recorded 11 digs apiece.
USD returns to action on Thursday, as they head to the Bay Area for a 6:30 p.m. WCC showdown with the University of San Francisco Dons.
